Styro Solve™ dramatically reduces
the volume of polystyrene foam (EPS, Styrofoam). Both food service
material and packaging material can be reduced. Made from a blend
of natural and biodegradable ingredients that are environmentally
safe, Styro Solve makes recycling polystyrene a cost effective
reality. Styro Solve softens and dissolves expanded polystyrene
releasing the air trapped in the "foam" leaving a dense,
space-saving material called polygel. The polystyrene in the polygel
is chemically unchanged. The polygel can be recycled again and
again.
The Solution Machine was designed
specifically for use with the Styro Solve. There are several
different models for different uses. SM1100
was designed for individual use in a cafeteria setting. This is the
smallest model Solution Machine. When the student/individual
finishes their meal the remaining trash on the food tray is empted into a
trash can and the front door of the machine is opened. The
polystyrene is fed into the opening and the door is closed. At this
time the SM1100 begins to shred the polystyrene and as it drops into the
bottom container it is sprayed with Styro Solve which is pumped into the
spray system from a 5 gallon container stored in the bottom of the
machine. The bottom pull-out drawer is lined with an ordinary
plastic trash bag to collect the waste. Immediately the Styro Solve
begins to reduce the waste and convert it into "polygel".
When the trash bag is full it is removed and stored in a container such as
a fiber drum and held for shipping to the recycler. SM2200
is a top load machine also designed for cafeteria or small warehouse use. It is
slightly taller and has a lid that opens for filling the hopper. This
machine is useful in places where stacking or collection is
preferred. With this machine one person is all it takes. The top of
SM2200 is opened and the hopper is filled, the top is then closed and the
machine will shred and spray with the Styro Solve that is stored in the
bottom in a 5 gallon container. The waste collects in the bottom
pull-out drawer the same as the SM1100. Storing of
"polygel" is done in the same way. SM3300/SM3500
can handle very large pieces of polystyrene such as packaging material,
end-caps and such. This machine can be used with a conveyer system
for filling. It is placed over a gaylord into which the shredded
polystyrene is collected and sprayed. When the gaylord is filled
another is placed under the machine. The Styro Solve is pumped into
the spraying system from a drum. When 4 or more gaylords are filled
they are shipped to the recycler. SM3300/3500 is available with or without
the top de-bulker attachment
