IFS offers interested schools a modest
recycling education program to aid in the smooth installation of the Styro
Solve System.
A week before the Solution Machine is
delivered to the school, posters are set up in the cafeteria and cafeteria
personnel are informed that the machine is coming, what it does and
why. Posters saying "Trash Only" are provided for
placement over trash containers. With the schools permission student
handouts are also provided explaining the Styro Solve System.
If the school is interested a "name
the machine" contest is set up to interest the students in what is
going on and to help prepare them for the recycling project. A committee
is appointed by the school to determine the best name and the winning
student is awarded an IFS tee shirt .
Also available are student guide booklets
for an environmental science class project involving The Styro Solve
System and a questionnaire for teachers to test student knowledge of
recycling. For environmental science classes actual demonstrations
are encouraged for better understanding how of Styro Solve reduces
polystyrene. The class can even participate in showing how the
polystyrene is separated out of the Styro Solve and is brought back to a
solid form.
Students who are selected to assist in the
awareness of the Styro Solve System are awarded and Environmental
Certificate at the end of the year.
IFS realizes that to succeed recycling
needs help from everyone and teaching the students early on is the
best way to ensure a clean future.
